Runner up in the James Hardie Wildlife Art Prize and no wonder the Red-tailed Black Cockatoos are celebrating, with the female feasting on a pandanus nut while the male looks on. This penthouse party contrasts the untidy plumage of the tropical pandanus with the beautiful purple-black feathers. Capturing the colour of those feathers in the sunlight was a feat in itself. The black became blue, purple, silver and sometimes brown.
