PAINTING THE COURTING JABIRUS

Here's a favourite of mine that still stands as a great piece of art. 'Courting Jabirus'. The Jabiru is our most magnificent long-legged waterbird and it's only when they are breeding will you catch them doing their courtship dance. The dramatic light, often a feature in my work, seems to add mystery to the courter's dance. Check out the detail images to really appreciate the artwork.

Wouldn't you say 'yes' in such a romantic setting?. The Jabirus look dazzling as the sunlight turns the head and neck feathers an iridescent blue-green. The yellow-eyed female bows in submission to the upright male. The artwork is visually balanced by this large bouquet of vibrant lilies and the glossy greens of the lilly pads, also caught by a shaft of sunlight.
